A Simcoe Curling Club member was recognized with a prestigious award by CurlON earlier this week. Tuesday night at the club, Patti Pepper was presented with the Curling Community Hero Award, which recognizes those who have given five or more years of service to their community club. 

She added she is overwhelmed by the fact that her name was put forward and she was chosen. Pepper is one of six recipients chosen from across the province. She joined the club in 1978 and has been a member ever since, volunteering in different roles along the way.

Carmelinda Del Conte, a director with CurlON, explained how Pepper was selected after the nomination period was over.

She added that this is the first time the award was being offered, and they were blown away by the number of submissions.
